Mhmmm, even with purchasing golds at 7=7-10k, Im still at only 900 or so, and Ive been working on it for a while. Chest running gets old very quickly. But, I use my tank for chestrunning.

Derv's usually make the best runners for just about anything. A Derv can run heal and run at same time, most wars have to stop to heal.

I just did a bunch of chest running with my Necro in Whitman's Folly.

If you're not concerened about the quality of your drops, it's a good run. You can hit 3 chests (sometimes I only saw 2) in about 5 minutes with very little fighting. I put charge on one of my heroes, and brought the two fighter henchmen for pretty constant increased movement speed and left from Port Sledge. Take the immediate right turn after leaving town and then follow the coastline until you come to an area with two bosses. Just go north a bit and then start going west, then north and then west again. You'll see a rez shrine, and a little past that is usually where you'll see the 3rd chest if you haven't seen it by then. Just keep your ALT key pressed and look around while running.

Charge is nice because it speeds up your whole party so if you get a bad spawn of monsters it's pretty easy to just wipe them out, and it also means you don't need to depend on a run skill for your character.

Drops were a mix of purples and golds. Got a Superior Vigor from one drop. My first one in eleven months of playing. That was nice. Don't forget to salvage gold runes out before IDing them (just to be clear, this does not work on weapons). No Insignias in Proph. so you will always get the rune, and if you don't destroy the armor, you get 2 IDs toward Wisdom. No inscriptions so the weapons are rarely keepers, but a decent source of mods. Got a few +30 fortitudes and +5 e Staff Heads among other things. (Openned about 100 chests).

Only sad thing is that people don't seem to sell shiverpeak keys as frequently as they used to. One thing that makes Factions a good place to do chest runs is that the more popular keys are pretty easy to find at a discount from other players.

I would vote for dervish, especially with their buff to vow of silence's casting time. It is basically a shadow form sin with the exception of still being hit by physical, and no life loss to 50 when it ends.

for solo runnning dervs are without question the best. if you can dual however you can take 2 A/Me and keep up shadow for forever. warriors are somewhere lower on the list, after ranger, monk, and solo sins.

Blade was talking about gold amour(runes). It doesn't matter, does it? If you need to unlock runes, you should id first and if it is junk rune, just dump it to the merchant. Salvaging before id-ing isn't the best thing to do. You could save 1 savage tools if you id first unless you are going to sell those salvaged- unid runes for people to unlock.

*Sorry, didn't read the whole post by blade. Savage first and you can id twice.*

Dervish is the best runner. Picos Haste + Vow of Silence = Limitless running.

Pious Haste seems pretty conditional while in aggro, expecially if its Vow of Silence that it could strip. Unless the trip is to always use another enchant over it?
Would be great if someone could post the common Derv Running build.

Edit: nm about stacking another enchant, just remembered VoS would cancel it.

If you have a +20 enchant VoS, your VoS should last 11 secs and Pious last around 11 sec.

If you VoS and then Pious, both will end around the same time though. Thus, you will be able to recast VoS and pious.

VoS is 1/4 sec cast, haste is stance. You can recast them also at the same time and both will end at the same time. Or you could recast Pious Haste -> VoS every 8-9 seconds. Recast Haste replace you near finishing VoS.

Some of the monster drops will be things like Hecket Garment or Avicarra Vest, or something, something Armor.

You can't actually equip these items like you can dropped weapons (swords, staves, wands) or offhands (grim cestas, scrolls, ankhs, shields). These items have runes (like superior rune of vigor or superior rune of Death Magic) on them that you can salvage out with an expert or superior salvage kit.

The thing I'm talking about relates to the Wisdom title tract that you get by identifying rare (gold text) items. If you get a rare armor drop you can salvage out the rune BEFORE identifying the armor piece. This may leave you with an UnID's armor piece, and an UnID'd rune. Now you can use your ID kit to ID both items for 2 points to your Wisdom title (vs. 1 point for IDing the armor piece with the rune on it, as it counts as a single ID'd item).

Keep in mind that when you salvage things, you have a chance of destroying the thing you are salvaging from. In Proph. and Factions, armor pieces can only come with runes, so the above trick can only help you in regards to title hunting (you will always get the rune, and always have at least one item to ID). But in Nightfall, armor pieces can come with a rune and/or an insignia, so the above trick can backfire badly (insignia are never gold I think so you could salvage out an insignia and break the armor...so no rare ID and possibly no Superior Rune).

Check out www.guildwiki.org if you haven't before. Great resource for info on how the game works.

Hope that all made sense.

The warrior is still a good choice for running. The Derv is pretty awesome tho.

With nightfall came Signet of Stamina +258 health permanent until you strike a foe at 13 strength and Enraging charge 14 seconds +25% speed at same 13 strength.

I run my warrior around with Enraging charge and sprint for a constant 25%speed boost and 850 odd health.

I must admit if i didnt have a few hundred points up in the chest running and had to start from scratch the derv would have been my choice. If you need to see a good derv chest run build just look for a droks run build. Should do nicely.

And thanks for the reminder Blade I forgot about the rune armor thing..

I personally still stick with my war for chest running cause they can take a hit. But A/Me imo are the best chest runners. Because with derv aven with VoS at 1/4th cast ive still had it interupted by mesmers on runs. Interupted VoS = screwed.
